SBCC Scavenger Hunt - 2011
South Bay Camera Club
SCAVENGER HUNT 2011
This is a contest for fun and to practice your photography skills. Be creative and enjoy making new images to fill the categories for this year’s competition. The winner receives recognition in the SBCC Newsletter and a small brass plate to adhere to a South Bay Camera Club wooden trophy plaque.
The Categories:
1. STAIRS - Up, down, or around - stairs or steps.
2. BREAK-OUT - Photograph a breakout of some kind.
3. TRAINS / RAILROADS - Anything related to trains or railroads.
4. UMBRELLAS - Not only the kind you use on a rainy day but any kind. Use your creativity and take a picture that somehow includes one or more umbrellas.
5. SOMETHING THAT FLIES – Planes, Birds, Kites, Bugs, etc
6. NUMBERS - You find them everywhere: They're on road signs, buildings, vehicles, price tags, EVERYWHERE.
7. DOUBLE TAKE - Take a photo in which two similar subjects are captured at once
8. BALLOONS - Balloons are fun and colorful.....photograph one or more balloons for this category.
9. SOMETHING THAT NO LONGER WORKS - Photograph something that no longer works as it once did.
10. PUZZLE MACRO - Take a macro photo of something, and try to stump the viewer as to what it actually is.
11. TRIPTYCH - A triptych is a work of art which is divided into three sections which are hinged or connected. For this category, create an entry consisting of three panels that tells a story or illustrates a concept or object. Your panels can be subdivisions of one photo or be constructed from up to three separate photos.
12. ZEN PHOTOGRAPH - Make an image that whispers serenity, simplicity, harmony. Make an image as silent as can be.
13. SELF PORTRAIT - (not judged)
The Rules:
• Only SBCC members may participate.
• Originals may be digital, film or slides converted to digital files.
• All entries should be photos taken between May 1, 2010 and April 11, 2011.
• All entries must be sized to 1020 pixels on the longest side.
• All entries must be labeled: number_ category_yourname.jpg (e.g. 08_Balloons_robinyoung.jpg) and submitted on a CD or email to robinyoung7@hotmail.com .
• All entries must be submitted to Robin Young by April 11, 2011.
• Judging will be at the SBCC meeting on April 25, 2011.
