Studio Lighting Techniques Workshop News

2nd Workshop Held October 16th
10/20/2006 10:47:05 AM

The second lighting workshop was held October 16th with the 4 original members. We had a hair stylist and makeup artist to prepare our model (Scarlett) for the evening. This evenings theme was dramatic lighting with multiple lights and how each light builds the mood.

Scarlett was shot using the following lighting setup.

Studio Lighitng Diagram - Dramatic glamour lighting

This was the same set that was used to shoot the Alia in Red image that was entered in the last club print critique, the only difference being we did not use the projection spotlight for the main light. The background we used was a brown scenic painted muslin. The images will be posted here as soon as they go through retouching.

The next lighting workshop will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2006 at 7:30. To break things up a bit, instead of portrait lighting, we will discuss still life and table top lighting and technique. We will be using various lighting modfiers such as softboxes, light panels, scrims, flags, fingers and dots to shape and adjust the lighting to the desired appearance. Maybe even a little light painting. This should be a fun and informative workshop for those that like to shoot still life images.
