PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Welcome to the South Bay Camera Club. For those of you who are already members, welcome back for another fun-filled year. For those of you who aren’t members and have found our website, I strongly encourage you to come to one of our meetings, watch the festivities and join the club. For $45 per year its one of the best deals in California. For those of you who live far away and happened on our website by luck or design, please come and visit us in Southern California. We are a fun bunch of people.
The purpose of the South Bay Camera Club is to share our love of photography, to continually improve our photographic skills, and, above all, to have fun taking pictures. There are photographers of all levels in the club from the novice to the professional. My belief is that everyone, no matter what level, has something to learn and can improve his or her skills. That is at the center of the club’s philosophy.
To that end, we have different types of programs planned for our meetings. Among them are: digital and print evaluations done by professional local photographers, special programs presented once a month, an annual scavenger hunt, and a gallery night when we show the work of which we are most proud.
The club also has photography shooting trips planned during the year. There are overnight trips as well as day trips. We also have a coffee klatch the second Wednesday of every month at 9:00 a.m. at the Catalina Coffee Company in Redondo Beach.
And if this isn’t enough fun, we also have two banquets during the year in which videos are shown and awards are presented. One banquet is in December and the other in June.
I hope that you will all participate in one way or another: come to meetings, submit images, upload images to our website gallery at sbccphoto.com, join in on the photo trips, and come to the coffee klatch and talk photography. There are also some chair openings on the SBCC board. That is a great way to get involved and meet people.
I am looking forward to a great year. We have many things planned and I hope you will enjoy them and learn from them. If you have any questions or suggestions, you can reach me at hdkorn1@yahoo.com or (805) 340-3197. Or we can talk at a meeting.
Sincerely, Harry Korn President South Bay Camera Club
