President's Latest Message

HOWDY!

8/13/2008 7:48:37 PM
I would like to say hi to all of the SBCC members and thank you for nominating and electing me as your president for the upcoming year. I will try to make it a fun, interesting and exciting year for everyone. We will be trying new things that I hope with spark some new interests in old club members as well as draw in some new ones.

So far the new season is off to a great start with close to 60 people attending our first meeting and many of them submitting photographic prints for critique by our guest commentator Melanie Shatto. Melanie gave us some very insightful comments and what I think, some very helpful critiques and ways to better our photographs. With a club that has so many gifted photographers it is sometimes hard to see ways of improvement in our images, hence when someone of Melanie's talents is able to help us out it is much appreciated.

We plan on having a number of talented artists and photographers participate in our photo critique sessions over the next year so it should be very interesting to see how others feel about their work.

Remember to upload your print files to the web site using the "Print Image Competition Submission" link at the left. Get your print images in early so that others may view them and cast their votes for the end of year awards. If your image isn't uploaded you cannot take home an award. If you need any assistance please feel free to call me and I can walk you through it. If you are a new member please call me and let me know and I will set up an account for you on the web site.

I would like this year to be a year of participation by all club members. We still have many openings to help out as one of the various chairpersons. If you see something that you would like to do let me know and we will set you up.

For those talented individuals that would like to run a workshop in an area that you feel you are qualified, please let us know. There is always room for a good workshop and plenty of people to attend that would like to learn.

Check back on this site often for new news and updated information as well as new images posted by members and guests. Please feel free to upload your images and comment on the images that are already there. This site is an extension of the club and is what you make of it as club members. Remember the world is watching so this site is a good place to become world famous!

I hope you will enjoy the upcoming year and I will do my best to make it fun and interesting for all.

Sincerely,

Phil Cohen
President
South Bay Camera Club
