This is a contest for fun and to practice your photography skills. Be creative and enjoy making new images to meet the categories for this year’s competition.

 

 

The Categories follow a theme of OPPOSITES:

 

1. ODD - Numbers, strange... find a creative way to photograph the concept of "odd".
2. EVEN - Numbers, length, matchups... find a creative way to photograph the concept of "even".
3. SPINNING - Create a photograph showing the action of “spinning”.
4. STILL - Quiet, calm, peaceful, tranquil… find a creative way to photograph the concept of “still”
5.  COOL COLORS - Create a photograph comprised of primarily “cool colors”.
6.  WARM COLORS - Create a photograph that is comprised of primarily “warm colors”.
7. RURAL LANDSCAPE - Of, relating to, or characteristic of the country.
8. URBAN LANDSCAPE - Of, relating to, or located in a city.
9. FIRE - Fire.
10. ICE - Ice.
11. SEA (not land) - Show us your best seascape shot from a coastal area. Open water should be the prominent feature in your image. Such land as is shown should be "framing" or "anchoring" the water.
12. LAND (not sea) - Show us your best landscape shot from an inland area. No oceans or giant lakes for this one.
13. SELF PORTRAIT (not judged)

 

Rules:

• Only SBCC members may participate.
• Originals may be digital, film or slides converted to digital files.
• All entries must be photos taken between Aug 1, 2008 and April 12, 2009.
• All entries must be sized no larger than a width of 1020 pixels or height of 640 pixels.
• All entries must be labeled (number_ category_name.jpg                                                     (i.e.   9_fire_yourname.jpg)) and submitted on a CD.
• All entries will be submitted to Robin Young by April 13, 2009.
• Judging will be at the SBCC meeting on April 27, 2009.
