Okay Brian - most of the ferns in the foreground bug me. They are clutter and distract from the subject which is the bench. Two fern fronds could be used. I like the one at the extreme right that follows the curve of the bench. Another on the left would be okay to frame the bench. I like the basic subject, espcially getting low like you did. Keep clicking - John

Thanks for the critique!

Yeah, a number of folks have complained to me about the ferns/weeds/plants in the foreground. Oddly, Noone has complained about the DOF, I wanted the bench tack sharp and the background out of focus.

Thanks again for the comment. If we ever get good weather hear again, I'm going to reshoot and try to fix the DOF and deal with the plants :) I'll keep the low angle though. I think it adds a lot to the shot.

Brian,

I happen to like the ferns! And I love the perspective! A lot of people seem to want to shoot the subject head on. Your photo is much more interesting. I think you're right about the DOF too, it gives the photo an atmosphere that would otherwise be missed. My only critique might be the cropping of the photo. I like it the way it is - but I wonder if you might not get a less 'claustrophobic' feeling if we saw a little bit more of the background....? Excellent photo - one of the few I clicked on...!
